                                                 LOVE

We have had our checklists properly examined. However,  what the checklist is testing is love.
- Do I love this man or woman enough to settle down with him or her?
- Does he or she love me enough to warrant me settling down with him?

A man of God shared the example of a television drama in which a wedding was conducted. He said in the drama, the officiating minister in the wedding (strangely) asked the bride whether she had considered her fate should the husband lose his job and consequently his official car and accommodation. The bride turned blue and pleaded that the wedding be postponed until she had considered these issues.
To answer the question asked above, we must look at what genuine love is about.
                        CHARACTERISTICS OF LOVE

1. Love is patient and kind. Wait for the right time to do the right thing. Ecclesiastes 3:18
2. Love is not jealous or boastful. If you love your partner,  you will trust him/her.
3. Love is not irritable or resentful. It does not get angry easily.
4. Love does not rejoice in wrongdoing but at the right. A good suitor will never advice you to do bad things or disobey your parents.
5. Love bears all things, it endures all things.

CHECKLIST #3 DO I TRULY LOVE HIM/HER? Love, lust, infatuation are experiences with very fragile line of demarcation.  A woman who is driven by infatuation may become a victim of a man who is driven by lust. The union between this two will crash and the pieces  will be so difficult to put together. Any marriage contracted out of genuine love between the two parties will end well. The question to ask is;  am I marrying him because of his build or her beauty? If he or she becomes 70 years old with bald head or falling teeth, will I still love him/her? In case of severe sickness, can I clear his waste without pinching my nose or twisting my mouth? Supposed there are no children, will he /she still be the apple of my eyes? There is the story of this lady who was diagnosed with cancer a few months after her wedding. She was made to go through chemotherapy treatment and after the treatment, she looked 80 years older than her normal age with fallen hair and wrinkled face....

Family life

BEFORE GETTING MARRIED     MATURITY BEFORE GETTING MARRIED   It is a known fact that maturity is key in marriage. Marriage, whichever way or place it is consummated is  not for kids. A successful marriage can only be built by two matured people who are willing to  - Make sacrifices in whichever way it is demanded  - Forgive as many times as offences come  - Overlook faults as if they never occurred  Unfortunately, maturity does not always come with age and for most people, it has to be consciously learnt and practiced.  If you want to make your marriage work, you must start making efforts before  the wedding date  is fixed to “wake up and grow up “. You must be determined to grow as an individual and develop your minds, intellect and emotions to the maximum level that can ensure peaceful co-habitation.  Even though the following list is not inclusive, to have a joyous marriage, individua...
